Description
The NE555 Square Wave Signal Generator is a 5V square wave signal generator with adjustable pulse frequency and duty cycle. It produces a square wave signal that is used in research and development projects. Use to generate a square wave drive signal by driving a stepper motor. It is possible to fine-tune the output duty cycle. The duty cycle and frequency cannot be adjusted separately; changing the duty cycle will change the frequency.
Frequency Select Jumper Ranges
Jumper Position | Low Freq | High Freq |
1-L | 1Hz | 27Hz |
2 | 9Hz | 470Hz |
3 | 680Hz | 32kHz |
4 – H | 68kHz | 500kHz |
The Duty Cycle adjustment potentiometer is located near the LED and allows you to change the output’s duty cycle. The duty cycle describes how long the output is driven high compared to how long it is driven low. Turning the pot counterclockwise decreases the length of time the output is low while increasing the amount of time it is high (increases duty cycle).
Especially at low frequencies, the duty cycle is best stable around 50% or higher (high period is 50% or longer). The output will go to a continuous low if the duty cycle is set too low.
